  • Can LabTwin support other languages?

    Yes. The core of the LabTwin system operates currently in English and is now also able to understand German. Other languages can be developed on demand.

  • What is LabTwin advantage over other voice assistants (Alexa, Siri, ….) ?

    Compared to traditional voice assistants, LabTwin is trained to understand scientific terms.  Moreover, the LabTwin app is built to support scientific workflows and provides the dedicated framework to capture and structure lab data as well as connect to lab hardware and software.

  • How does LabTwin understand scientific jargon?

    Our Natural Language Processing model has been trained to understand scientific words and can be further trained onto SOPs specific to your organization. Moreover, LabTwin users can add specific names into LabTwin glossary. Finally, LabTwin will learn from the user corrections and further improve its accuracy to specific vocabulary.

  • Can several people use LabTwin at the same time in the same room?

    Yes. Compared to most of the voice assistants, LabTwin does not use “Hey LabTwin” but a set of various exotic wake words allowing several users to use it in the same room without triggering each other’s app. Moreover, we advocate for the use of a headset to improve the experience.
    For some specific use-cases, some of our clients have also used one device for several users when performing a single experiment all together.

  • Is LabTwin secure?

    The security of our customers’ data has always been a top priority at LabTwin and we ensure the protection of your data at every level.

    > ISO Certification
    LabTwin achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2017 and ISO/IEC 27017:2015 certification. This certification recognizes LabTwin’s compliance with international gold standards for information security.

    ISO 27001 is a set of more than 100 requirements for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), encompassing the security of IT systems and data processes, risk management procedures and personnel training. As an extension to ISO 27001, ISO 27017 includes additional standards for the security of cloud-based services.

    > Data Security
    We are using proven and well-tested services of Amazon Web Services (AWS) in our infrastructure. AWS security is verified by a plethora of compliance certifications, including ISO 27001 and SOC reports 1, 2, and 3. And all data sent over the Internet to LabTwin servers and between services is encrypted over TLS/SSL connections. 

    > Mobile Security
    We are using the device level encryption that is offered by iOS or Android to secure the data stored on the device, combined with an MDM (Mobile Device Management) to control the device itself. This creates a secure and controlled environment for the App. We can also provide an extra level of security by deploying a User Management System.

  • Where is the data stored?

    LabTwin's client data is stored on Amazon Web Services in Europe. Our cloud deployment strategy is flexible however, and it can also be deployed to private cloud tenants or installed on premises (with the caveat of being more difficult to maintain)

  • Which systems do you support?

    LabTwin runs on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.

  • Can LabTwin integrate with lab devices or lab informatics?

    Yes. LabTwin can interface with a variety of different systems - both software and hardware - through its REST-based open API. LabTwin can therefore automatically access or collect data from devices (e.g. balance) or lab informatics systems (e.g. ELN).

  • Is LabTwin an ELN?

    While LabTwin could be used as an ELN-lite solution for real-time documentation, with many benefits over traditional ELN, our vision is much bigger. LabTwin has been built primarily to offer scientists an intuitive and easy way to interact with all their lab systems. There are many great ELN solutions out there that we can integrate alongside but we are not developing an ELN per se.

  • How long does it take to implement LabTwin in the lab?

    One day.
    LabTwin is an off-the-shelf solution and can be used from Day One by downloading the app and login in.  
    For the implementation of a custom integration with lab informatics systems however, 3 to 4 weeks are usually necessary.

  • What are the pre-requisites to implement LabTwin?

    A smartphone or tablet and a LabTwin login. That’s all.

  • Do you provide customization option?

    Yes. Our team can work with you to develop a custom solution for a specific use-case or integration.
